- I’ve been doing scientific research projects SINCE 2000 with Mexican Wolves, pigs and small animal orthopaedic / neurosurgery research studies.
- I have PUBLISHED IN PEER-REVIEWED JOURNALS and know how frustrating it is to get a manuscript ready for submission.
- I have been REVIEWING SCIENTIFIC MANUSCRIPTS since 2018 for a small animal surgery journal and know what reviewers look for in a manuscript.
- I have been TRAINED AS A SMALL ANIMAL SURGERY RESIDENT for three years and have interpreted countless scientific papers on a regular basis during journal club
- I am aware of the fact that publications are nowadays a box that needs to be ticked in your residency application, but often you have no research or scientific writing experience.
- With German as my first language I KNOW HOW DIFFICULT IT IS if you live and work in non-English speaking surroundings and having to write a paper in scientific English. Now that I even dream in English this is not a problem any more but I sympathise with all you veterinary surgeons with a mother-tongue other than English.
- Having STUDIED AND WORKED IN THE ENGLISH-SPEAKING WORLD (England and USA) for about 10 years I consider myself proficient especially in the “scientific” English language.
Inclusion criteria to send your manuscript for editing
- SUBJECT is in small animal surgery
- orthopaedics
- spinal neurosurgery (“orthopaedic neurosurgery")
- STAGE of the writing process
- The manuscript is complete (abstract, introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, references, tables and figures)
- The manuscript is written according to the author guidelines of the journal you want to submit the manuscript to
- SCIENTIFIC JOURNALS you want to submit to
- Veterinary Comparative Orthopaedics and Traumatology (VCOT)
- Veterinary Surgery (Vet Surg)
- Journal of Small Animal Practice (JSAP)
- Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association (JAVMA)
- Journal of the American Animal Hospital Association (JAAHA)
Exclusion criteria
- neurosurgery related to brain surgery
- soft tissue surgery and non-surgical subjects
- any other scientific journal not mentioned above (I might include more depending on the request volume), just double check with me beforehand
